LAHORE – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday dismissed the post-arrest bail application of a Crime Control Department (CCD) assistant sub-inspector, Syed Tariq Hussain, in a kidnapping-for-ransom case. ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain announced the decision on the bail application filed by the accused. The prosecution opposed the bail plea, urging the court to dismiss it on the grounds that the accused was involved in a serious offence along with two other police personnel.

According to the prosecution, the CCD had registered a case against the three police officials for allegedly intercepting a citizen by setting up a roadblock, abducting him and collecting Rs100,000 in ransom. The prosecution maintained that the accused were involved in the alleged crime and did not deserve the concession of bail.
After hearing the arguments, the court dismissed Syed Tariq Hussain’s post-arrest bail application.
